New Merch’ Monday: Chain Bobstay Scarf

nautical irony

This scarf took a second look.  At first, I was unimpressed; I’m not a big fan of such literal prints.  But as soon as my boss said something about its nautical characteristics, I had to turn around and re-think my initial dismissal.

The pink chain print is just ironic enough to work for me.  The colors are great, because they’re both faded, and the simplicity of the combination keeps the scarf from looking too high-maintenance, too attention-grabbing.

werrk that literal print

Texture-wise, the Chain Bobstay will transition well from winter to Spring to summer, and back again, so there are a ton of opportunities to use this as a punch of pattern in your wardrobe.

I think what makes this scarf work is the irony.  Nautical irony, if you will, which I’m not sure existed before I started writing about this scarf, but I can assure you it exists now.

It’s no “nautical-themed pashmina afghan,” but it certainly has the same appeal, but in a more adaptable color scheme.  Call me crazy for integrating color into my wardrobe, but I can totally see this over a navy and white striped t-shirt, skinny jeans, and a green vintage jacket.

Yeah, green.  And it looks awesome inmymind.

What do we think?  Is the chain print workable?  I’m digging it.

You did totally judge this poor wittle guy at first. I knew you’d come around. (I’m lying. I didn’t actually know you’d come around, nor did I think about it again after seeing your undeserved meanmug the first time you laid eyes on Bobby. It’s fine.)
