Never underestimate the power of the accessory.
While perusing what is probably my favorite site, I found an amazing testament to my sentiment that style is not all about the clothes.
Meet Sheena Matheiken, co-creator of The Uniform Project, a initiative in which Sheena wears the same black dress for 365 days, and styles it a different way each day to raise money for educating Indian children for the organization Akanksha. Yes, the endeavor is charitable and philanthropic and she’s a great person… blah blah blah, but what really stands out to me here is the unprecedented level of fashion innovation she deplays every. single. day. Tights, statement jewelry and millinery and, of course, scarves become essential tools. See some scarftastic examples below.

In the long run this is obviously a massive money saver — in the battle between new scarf versus new dress, new scarf will nearly always win in terms of cost. So though I doubt I’d have the wherewithall to wear the same dress daily, I do plan to take a page from The Uniform Project’s accessories-dressing book. Et tu?
