Celeb Style: Ellen Page in Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cillian Murphy all in one movie? This has to be a dream and after seeing the movie, Inception, I’m wondering if it is… This blockbuster has everything you could ever ask for: action, suspense, beautiful people, romance, a premise that will blow your mind and cause you to question your own reality, and oh yeah – scarves!

Ellen Page plays a college student who acts as a Dream Architect, constructing various levels of dreams (trust me, it’ll make sense once you see the film) all the while, donning an impressive collection of scarves. The look is simple, elegant, Parisian and I know you want in on it.

Get the look - Ellen Page's scarf from InceptionOne of Page’s costume changes includes a scarf I’ve been dreaming of since I saw the film. It’s subtle, classic and classy. It’s a metallic square scarf. While I wouldn’t necessarily pair it with a striped top and tan pants, I would make it a staple piece in my wardrobe. And thanks to Affordable Scarves, this dream can become a reality.

The Paisley Square Scarf is a gorgeous and affordable alternative to Ellen’s Inception look. The paisley print dazzles, not unlike a vampire in the sunlight. Oops… I’m getting my movie references mixed up. My bad. The rich purple background contrasts beautifully with the silver metallic stripes and tan pattern. It’s 100% cotton and therefore 100% comfortable.

With this scarf in your collection it will make getting ready in the morning a snap, providing you all the more time to ponder the themes of this film, and believe me, you’ll need it!

Scarf Up That Handbag!

Celebrities with scarves on their purses

Is your handbag losing that edge? That burst of style that it once had? Do you envy celebrities like Heidi Montag, Jennifer Anniston or Eva Longoria Parker for their sense of style and fashion?

Well, if you envy Heidi for other reasons besides her purse, then I cannot help you…But if you do dig the above three’s bodacious bags then ladies, you have come to the right place!

Scarves are amazing accessories! Then can add a touch of color to an outfit, dress it up or dress it down and now they can even add a revitalized touch of life to your handbag!

That’s right! Scarfing up your handbag! If you’re looking for that extra oomph then grab a scarf! …Who would have thought that just a little touch of satin color could completely transform your handbag!

Here are some hints:

Stick to leather. If you’re adding some spicy satin scarves to your tote then make it a leather one. Some cloth and hemp purses with scarves appear unorganized and clash.

Go big with color. When adding a scarf to a handbag, go for color! You’re trying to add a bit of sass to your purse anyways, so why not add some spice and make your scarf, handbag and yourself stand out!

Satin and cotton are key. Scarves are made from all arrays of material…Cashmere, cotton, satin, wool, silk…So try to stick to airy materials. Satin and cotton are easy to tie and demonstrate color well. Plus, the last thing you want to do is tie your favorite, yet expensive, cashmere scarf around your purse and then later watch it fly away with the wind when it comes untied…

Do dare to add some color to your handbag. Hell add some crazy pattern even…But do keep it catered to you! Remember you’re adding some flare to your bag, so spice it up however you feel necessary!

Weekly Roundup

Hello, happy Friday! Before you begin one of the last weekends in July, check out the weekly roundup.

Cameron Diaz and A-Rod

caaan you feeeel the love toniiiight?

So, Kate Hudson and A-Rod are no more. But what about A-Rod and Cameron Diaz. They aren’t official yet, but FirstClassFashionista has got the scoop. What do you think?

Chatty panties are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Thoughts? Personally, I think if you’re wearing the ones that say virgin…you probably don’t really have your v-card. Just sayin.’ Nor would I wear the ones that say “turn on” or “tap.” That’s kind of sleazy.

Did anyone see John Mayer’s YouTube vid mocking Lebron James. I know, I know, we haven’t gotten enough Lebron James information lately, have we? It’s funny though, promise.

Two ways to wear one dress, check it out. Don’t forgot how versatile an article of clothing can be, especially a simple scarf!

Celeb Style: Rachel Bilson’s Floral Scarf

Rachel Bilson Floral ScarfWhen she’s not busy acting or dating Hollywood hunks, my guess is that Rachel Bilson is out scarf-hunting. It seems as though every time you turn around this budding actress is dressed to impress with a gorgeous scarf wrapped around her neck. According to Elise from Rachel Bilson Daily, Rachel “can always make a normally boring outfit more exciting with one of her many scarfs!”

My high school obsession – Seth & Summer (more specifically Seth. I mean seriously, he’s adorable!). My college obsession – Rachel’s scarf collection.

Recently I stumbled across this photo and I must admit I was immediately smitten with this scarf. It’s lightweight and perfect for summer (or should I say Summer?). Plus the floral print is fun and refreshing. I had to have it. But because my bank statement isn’t exactly up to par with those of the Newport community, I was on a quest for an affordable alternative. Thank goodness for the Lindsay Rose Scarf. Now I can daydream about Seth Cohen all day long while sporting this fun and flirty look.

Celeb Style: Kim Kardashian

Whether she’s modeling, acting or dancing with the stars, it’s undeniable that Kim Kardashian always looks good. She always seems to choose the right accessories (especially scarves) to compliment an outfit. Our friends at KimKardashianWeb believe that “this demonstrates her interest and enthusiasm for fashion because every little thing down to the accessories seems like important and deciding element of what Kim chooses to wear… Kim’s fashion sense portrays the modern, fashion forward business woman and for the right occasion. She certainly embraces a glamorous aspect in her style, in an elegant and often striking way.” Women across America are constantly trying to copy her style but keeping up with the Kardashians isn’t an easy feat. Until now…

Meet the black Leopard Print Scarf from Affordable Scarves. It’s fine, fresh, fierce, and if you look closely, maybe even familiar. That’s because Miss Kardashian herself has been spotted around town in a scarf that looks eerily similar.

Kim Kardashian Leopard Print Scarf

Kim paired her leopard print scarf with a pair of oversized shades to compliment her black on black ensemble. It sounds easy, almost too easy, and it certainly looks good. All you need is the perfect leopard print scarf and who knows, maybe it’ll be you who everyone is trying to keep up with.

Jennifer Aniston’s Solid Pashmina

Whether it’s her hair, her love life or her supposed pregnancy, America loves to talk about Jennifer Aniston. The one aspect of her life that doesn’t get discussed nearly enough? Her style.

Jennifer Aniston's solid pashmina

Ms. Aniston is not one to make a scene in an outlandish outfit, instead she opts for a look that’s classic and classy.  Even in jeans and a t-shirt, she looks well put together. Looks like she learned a thing or two from fashionista, Rachel Green. Her style is one that every woman should emulate and now you can!

Solid pashmina from Affordable Scarves

Jennifer brightens up a plain white tee with a gorgeous scarf, not unlike the Solid Colored Pashmina. Available in, count ‘em, six different colors, you can emulate everyone’s best Friend, without looking like a straight up copycat (or smelly cat, for that matter).

With that added pop of color from a beautiful pashmina who knows whose eye you’ll catch. Maybe Brad Pitt, or Tate Donovan, or Vince Vaughn, or John Mayer or…

Dakota Fanning’s Studded Scarf

We’ve watched little Dakota Fanning grow up right before our eyes. She started out as a cute little 9-year-old child star in the movies Uptown Girls and The Cat in the Hat and since had grown into a beautiful young lady. As cute and girly as Dakota is, she does have edge. Did you see how badass she looks in Push? Or how creepy/terrifying she looks in the Twilight movies? And speaking of, edge…

Dakota Fanning studded scarfNothing says edge more than that studded scarf. I love the look, especially on cutesy Dakota. Studs seem to be adorning everything lately, and that’s not a bad thing. So, you have two options.

1. Call Dakota, since she’s on your speed dial and all and ask her where she got her scarf

OR

2. The only logical option, get this scarf.

Rocking the Scarf

Call me crazy, but I love Aerosmith. More specifically, I love their larger-than-life frontman, Steven Tyler. You know, dude looks like a lady? He knows how to rock, he’s Liv Tyler’s father and he doesn’t take the stage without his iconic scarf-tied microphone stand.

Steven Tyler ties a scarf to his mic stand

Mr. Tyler has been using his trademarked mic since well before I was born, but where did he get such a genius idea? As it turns out, in the early Aerosmith days, he had a favorite scarf he would always wear in his hair. When it started to get worn out (literally) he couldn’t part with his favorite accessory. His solution? Tie it to his microphone stand. And there you have it, ladies and gentleman, the scarf mic stand was born. Sounds like a great decorative use for an old scarf, doesn’t it?

This look has even inspired other artists to put their personality into their microphones. Mariah Carey is all about the glitter mic while Rihanna likes her microphones a little more medieval.

Who knew a scarf could change the face of rock ‘n roll?

Celeb Style: Mandy Moore’s Tie-Dye Scarf

Remember when Mandy Moore came out in the ’90s? You know… So Real, Candy, I Wanna Be With You… Everyone loved her. Then she was in A Walk to Remember, the movie that broke my 12-year-old heart. Later she dated Andy Roddick and Zach Braff, which kind of makes me jealous. Her newest album, Amanda Leigh, was released in 2009. Did anyone get it? I didn’t, but I think it’s definitely worth a listen. The girl has got some pipes. In addition to her acting and singing career, Mandy used to have her own fashion line, Mblem. Though that line stopped, Mandy says she would like to get back into the fashion world and I’m sure she will. I recently came across this picture…

Mandy Moore scarf

..and I happen to think she is clutching that scarf for a reason. Who would want it to get away? I love tie-dye. It makes her look free spirited, but not quite like some peace-lovin’-hippie. (not that there is anything wrong with being peace lovin’ or a hippie) I’m not sure where Mandy got her scarf or how much she paid for it, but I know where to get one that is similar for a price that I can almost guarantee is less.

Emelia tie-dye scarf Affordable ScarvesThe Emelia Tie-Dye Scarf is 100% cotton, making it lightweight and a perfect option for summer. It’ll give you that free-spirited look Mandy has with less of the cost. This scarf comes in four different color combinations and is easy to pair with outfits. This treasure could be yours for just $15.26 and then you will be sure to clutch your scarf the way Mandy is, but I won’t judge.

Selena Gomez’s Scarf is Magic, You Know.

You’ve seen her on the Disney Channel starring on Wizards of Waverly Place (maybe, if you watch Disney… of course, I never always do…) and you have probably heard her on the radio, but have you seen her in this scarf?

Selena Gomez in scarf

Even if you aren’t a Disney Channel enthusiast, I’m sure you’ve heard of Selena Gomez and seen her (and her style) making her way into celebrity news. I love that scarf on her and I wonder where she got it. I’m sure it wouldn’t fit into my college student budget anyway, but the Isabelle Ombre Scarf is very similar. This scarf is on sale for $10.46 and you can get it in purple, orange or green.

Affordable Scarves' Isabelle Ombre Scarf This scarf is soft, light and airy, making it perfect for spring, summer or fall! It’s 100% cotton, meaning this isn’t one of those itchy neck scarves! As Selena would say, everything is not what it seems, but this scarf is. It’s really that great!
